In Search of Mother's Womb
Touka watched from the forest, tongue-tied and nervous. Momoka was breathtaking in the moonlight, droplets from her bath sliding down her skin and her hair piled on top of her head. Loose strands laid slick against her neck as she stepped out of the bath and onto the tiled floor, bending slightly to pick up a dry towel.
She was blue fire and female mixed in one.
Touka gulped. Women were not supposed to change so easily. She was Momoka, pure and simple. She loved food and loved talking. She filled up the silence as they walked, not paying heed or attention to his indifference.
This creature was not Momoka, but he couldn't tear his eyes away from her softness.
His eyes were drawn to her hands as they swept upwards, pulling out the stick which kept her hair out of water's reach. It fell in cascades down her back, lush against the moon-pale skin.
More minutes passed as Momoka dried the droplets from her skin, and pulled a robe over her body, hiding what beguiled beneath the cloth. She left, and Touka struggled to remember how to breath.
Touka stepped inside the bath and unstopped the rubber bottle. Usually, it was Momma's bathwater he nightly collected, but tonight he wanted to know if Momoka was as warm and comforting as his mother. Stoppering the bottle, Touka glided out of the bathhouse, wondering what dreams-if any-he would have.
His fingers tingled with pale fire were it had touched the water.
