Conrart stared at the package. It was innocuous enough wrapped up in brown paper and tied with twine. It had taken only seconds to cut the string holding the parcel together and only a few more to reveal the contents within. Conrart looked up Hwang, disbelievingly.
"Bunny ears?"
Conrart refused to believe it. The next job couldn't have anything to do with cosplaying, could it?
He gulped.
"What's the mission?"
Hwang laughed.

Conrart pushed Hei against the wall, body twitching with the need to flee as the pitter patter of feet rushed past their hiding place between scenery flats. It had been a close call. The crowd had nearly overrun him with glee after he jumped out of the hat. If it hadn't been for Li's clumsy feint with the spotlight, Conrart would never have been able to hop to safety on top of the speaker. For a six foot drop from stage to floor, those children were awfully good at climbing.
Whoever heard of pulling a rabbit out of a top hat? Conrart shivered. He didn't want to try that one again. Ever.
Fingers pressed against Conrart's arm, urging him to let go without saying a word.
Conrart looked back at Hei and paused. There was something strange glinting in his eyes, a sliver of the mask breaking even as he watched the light fade.
"We've done what we came here for so get out as quick as you can." Mao's voice came out loud and clear over Hei's ear mic. "We'll see you at the next debriefing so make sure you get out in one piece." Static filtered over the mic after the connection was cut.
Hei pushed Conrart back a step and peered around the corner, oblivious to the way their thighs pressed against each other. "Let's go," Hei said, motioning for Conrart to follow, and Conrart did, tail twitching with every skip down the hall.

Murata opened up the drawer and did a double take. It wasn't often he had a chance to visit Earth, and this was the first time he'd been able to sneak away to Conrart's old apartment. The solider had changed. He was softer, happier even though his smile was wistful and the skip in his step a little forlorn. It was not what he had expected when Conrart returned from reestablishing the connection with Earth, nor was the item he had brought from the gate at all what he had expected.
But looking at the slim velvet smooth ears lying in the chest of drawers, Murata could almost understand why Conrart had brought a tuft of whiteness from the gate with him. It was soft was velvet down and each strand of hair as strong as tempered steel. It matched the ears sitting in front of him.
Blushing, Murata closed the drawer and hurried out of Hei's apartment.
What the two men had done during their alliance was better left between them. Glancing down at his watch, Murata noted the time. He needed to be quick or else Yuuri would wonder where he had gone and that was the last thing he wanted anyone to know. Hurrying, Murata rushed down the steel steps, passing by one of the tenants.
Alighting on the ground, Murata looked back and watched the stranger walk into room 201. He shivered. He needed to get as far away as possible, before time froze and he got caught for trespassing, both on his secrets and in his home.
