Of Doorways and Windows
Doors were something that could be opened or closed. One walks through them to enter a new room, a new life, and sometimes even a different world. One closes them when the need to separate the old pain from the new becomes a necessity or to cut oneself off from the things that were painful to remember or to embarrassing to contemplate. Sometimes, it’s a simple ending to a chapter and the start of a new one
Yuuri knew the concept of doors and how they worked since he was very young, fascinated by the turning knobs and the variety of designs in such a simple thing as wood. He never imagined, however, that one day the doors that would mean the most to him wouldn’t be made of wood and paper. Instead, he was destined to cherish and dread the doors to another realm through the translucent surface of a patch of water, a fountain, or even the ocean itself. He sometimes wished his introduction to Shin Makoku had begun by a more dignified means then the dirty water of an even dirtier convenient store bathroom.
No one wanted to hear how the Great Maou came to know his kingdom because of a run in with a toilet.
Still, he couldn’t regret that fateful day, not when he had Greta sitting on his lap and Wolfram standing behind him. Nor could he truly abhor the unexpected duties he was requested to perform as the newest Maou when he had people working with him to ensure everything went smoothly, despite his many absences. Yuuri refused to regret the many open and closed chapters in his short life.
After all, they do say that when one door closes, a window opens, and sometimes, that window can lead to an unexpected, dazzling future.

Long Awaited Guests
Jennifer had been so happy to finally show off her lovely Yu-chan’s pictures to his friends, and even more delighted when Wolfram revealed that her little boy had gotten engaged and to such a cutie no less! Laughing, she pointed out all the pictures she had collected over the years. Her favorite was the one of Yu-chan dressed in a princess outfit complete with wand and tiara. He was five years old and his first Halloween with his classmates.
He was such a cute little girl!
Giggling, she ran off in search of more photo albums, happy to be surrounded by her son’s friends. Pausing in the hallway, she frowned just a little. He never liked bringing friends over though she couldn’t figure it out at all. She was such a loving person. Didn’t her Yu-chan want her to meet his friends? Shrugging off the familiar confusion, she quickly ran into her bedroom, upturning drawers and closets in pursuit of yet more pictures to show off her lovely, adorable little family.
With a twinkle in her eye, she happily skipped out of the bedroom. Nearing the family room, she giggled softly as her youngest child wrestled with his fiancé over possession of the photoalbum she had left behind. Quickly taking a look around the corner, she pulled a camera from her apron pocket, carefully concealed there for such instances. Taking a picture, she hurriedly stowed it away before jumping into the fray, berating her one and only Yu-chan for not telling her the happy news.
Smiling, she knew she’d never forget these happy moments, her camera bumping against her leg in agreement.
